it's been a while...

Well.  Life.  What can I say.  It gets busy sometimes.
 I have been crafting-really.
I will catch this little blog up bit by bit-starting now.

My 1st 2011 finish was Logan's quilt...
but I am super lazy and have not taken any finished pictures of it.
God forbid i drag myself upstairs and do it now...

But here is the first of a few finishes.

This is a baby quilt I made for some really good friends for their 1st baby girl.
Well, their 1st baby.  And it was a girl :)
I used Fandango Suger Pop.
It was several months ago and I forget now.
I used the Simply A Bloom
I only made 1/2 of the quilt though.
It's for a baby, afterall.

I will post more completed projects soon, promise.

Adding a little something extra special.

Thank you for stopping by!

Alec's quilt

Some long time friends are having thier 1st baby!  WAHOO!
Here is the quilt that I made for him:
It's a zig zag.  I know, you're shocked!

Pieced back & I used small corduroy-it was great!

And this is my new quilting friend.  I finally bought a walking foot.
I only have 1 question:  Why?

Why did it take me sooo long to buy one??
Well I have one now so I guess it does not matter :)

Thanks for looking!

then came this

then along came this
Sew them all together and you get:

It's twin size. Not as big as I wanted it,
but I can always add more!!

Hope you had a great day :)

As promised

Here are a few pictures of Derek's quilt.  It is a full size, disappearing nine patch, quilted with diagonals...took me a few months because I am a slacker.

Don't look too closely or you will see that my seams do not match...

And the back...strip pieced  the back

Logan's quilt

So a while back I showed you a peak at what fabric Derek's quilt had in it.
I will take a picture of it's competed goodness someday...

Well-having finished D's, Logan has been wondering where his was.  So, poor me, I had to take him to the fabric store and he got to pick out his own fabric.  Here is what he picked:
I did influence his choices-but only towards the shades of colors that matched.  But I did give him the penguins.  That boy and penguins I tell ya.

I will be making a zig zag quilt for him using Crazy Mom Quilts (amandajean) tutorial found here
Off the top I already know I might have issues.
1) I am making at least a full size quilt so I just hope that I bought enough fabric :)
It would be just too bad if I had to go back!
2) I did not have a pattern picked out when I bought this fabric,
so I do not have 1 solid color to go with all the zigs
but a matching solid-ish color for all the prints...
I think I just have to sew a print to the next set's solid color.
Hm.  We'll see.

Wish me luck!

Finishes and a little progress

Well, here is my pinwheel quilt-a-long TOP done.
For the life of me I could not find more of the same white that I used for the blocks
(I used the rest of the yardage for a gifted quilt...oops...)
so I had to find a replacement.
It is from the Blush line, so it matches...kinda.
But I am happy with it, and it's my quilt, so there :)
And (thanks to Kristine) I made mini-pinwheels in the sashing-Too cute!

And..another "finish"
back story- 3 years ago we took the numbers off of the house so that we could paint and replace them.
They were wood and had not weathered very well.
Last year I purchased new numbers
(our mailbox has the numbers on it, so we were not completely incognito!) And the hubs has been busy doing hubsy stuff so they were always left on the list...well, I crossed them off today!  WAHOO!
I still have a few places to touch up with paint to hide the holes
but hey-they're up :)

And, here is my progress on AmandaJean's Quilt-a-long #5
I am anxiously awaiting this weeks post!!

**excuse the waves...it's not pressed and the ceiling fan is on**

So...stripes...I know that I promised an update~
the day is young :)
(which means that I have a bit more to accomplish and will post later)

Hope you have a great day!

Ahh...the last blocks

This one is my favorite.  Really.  I just really like how it looks complete all by itself.

And here is block 8.  Look familiar?  Weeeelllll...Funny story...This is how block 1 was supposed to look.  But.
I am a dork and screwed that one up (without realizing it!)  At least I liked  how it turned out!
When I was deciding what block to do for the last one, I laid out all the other blocks.  This one looked like it would "fit in" the most.
HA! HA! HA!  I crack myself up :)

block 1 & 2

We're going to take this a little slllooowwwly.  There are 8 blocks total.  I used Blush by Basic Grey.  I really really like the way the browns and pinks and blues go together so well!
Here are the 1st 2.

crazy about stripes :)

Well-if you know me than you know I cannot turn down a stripe!  Beth is motivating a stripe challenge and I could not pass it up.  There is even a chance I could win a little from her stash-too cool!  I also joined the flickr group to showcase-so excited!

If you are interested hop on over and let her know!

Doing some good

So I was reading Beth's blog and saw where she had worked on a quilt for kids in the hospital that she ordered from downy.  I jumped right on that bandwagon and ordered mine too.  I am not that great of a "quilter" but I can sew and it's for a great cause.  There is also a link to donate to them-which I did too.

Yeah, I am a sucker.  But it's for KIDS.  In the HOSPITAL.   I had to help.

Later today...or a week...

So sue me.  I had the best of intentions to post some pictures...but, well.

I have been busy sewing, sewing, crocheting, crocheting...little bit of house cleaning...some cutting to get ready to sew...

1)Hexagon runner.  I made it using this great tutorial.
2)Hexagon pieces that I will be making into a huge table runner.
3)Strips that will be made into a disappearing nine patch quilt for D.
4)A disappearing nine patch baby blanket for a gal at work. **Notice the brown patch in the middle?  Yeah, that's me and my great math skills.  I did not get enough fabric and pulled this idea out of my
head. (Ha!  Did you think something else??)  Anyway, very proud that I was able to make it work!!
5)Crochet Penquin (6 more to go for a penquin army for Lo...)
6)Crochet elephant (Pink one in the works)
7)And can you guess what these pieces make?  This. How stinking CUTE is he??

Hmmm...I think that is it. Isnt' that enough??
See, there is life after/during giveaways!  Next time though, I will make sure it's not a marathon post!

Thanks for stopping by :)

Finished Quilt!

Well, after about 8 months (okay, maybe 9) I finally finished Bob's blanket.  It was a "ball" theme.  I was so tempted to call it "Bob's Balls" but refrained since Casey is only 3.  Still would have been funny though...
