Help on the hexies

So...after my post about the middle of the hexi being a little bumpy
I got some help from Pam!
See her "how to" on making those middles flat!

Stripes progress.

Yeah, it is a little slow going on my stripe project;
but I am making progress.  Here are some hex halves...

and the rest of the stripes are in strips...

And I have figured out what I am really going to do with them.
I got my inspiration from Logan's quilt and will make a zig zag!
Not sure how big it will be yet,
maybe just some runners since I am not sure if I have enough for a quilt.
We'll see!

hexie-stripes

Well...I had an idea that I tried and it did not work out so very well.
Better luck for me next time :)
And since that plan did not work out, I thought I would try a little something else-that I was able to pull off-YAY!!
I'm not getting the center right
hopefully it's just becuase I need to work on my 1/4 inch seems.

eating crow

OK, so I thought it was broken.  Then I was at the Quitling Bee looking at beautiful Bernina's.  And I was shown a top stich (I cannot remember the name if it!) and it went forward 2 and back 1, forward 2 back 1.  I started laughing and the lady looked at me like I was special.  I told her that I just realized that my machine was not broken at all, that it was probably just the knob showing it was on a different setting.

So, while the machine might look complex on the inside-the hubs has it covered.  It's just me totally not noticing where the pattern dial knob is set at.
This is the Pattern Dial.  Notice the huge piece of tape stating what it is (thanks Grandma!)  Not even the tape helped me realize that it was set at 2 instead of 1. Ha Ha Ha!
Sorry hubs.  But the Bernina's come with classes so I can learn the machine.  I can take it as many times as I want.  (this is me still wanting a new one :))

I did make some progress on the birthday gift though.  Hopefully I will get to a sewing point today.

Later today...or a week...

So sue me.  I had the best of intentions to post some pictures...but, well.

I have been busy sewing, sewing, crocheting, crocheting...little bit of house cleaning...some cutting to get ready to sew...

1)Hexagon runner.  I made it using this great tutorial.
2)Hexagon pieces that I will be making into a huge table runner.
3)Strips that will be made into a disappearing nine patch quilt for D.
4)A disappearing nine patch baby blanket for a gal at work. **Notice the brown patch in the middle?  Yeah, that's me and my great math skills.  I did not get enough fabric and pulled this idea out of my
head. (Ha!  Did you think something else??)  Anyway, very proud that I was able to make it work!!
5)Crochet Penquin (6 more to go for a penquin army for Lo...)
6)Crochet elephant (Pink one in the works)
7)And can you guess what these pieces make?  This. How stinking CUTE is he??

Hmmm...I think that is it. Isnt' that enough??
See, there is life after/during giveaways!  Next time though, I will make sure it's not a marathon post!

Thanks for stopping by :)

Hexagon table topper

Well, here it is.  I think I could have done better, but I think we are also our worst critic.  I followed this great tutorial and here is my finished** product.  It was super easy & pretty fun making something new :)

Check back in a few days for a finished baby boy blanket!

**OK, so upon further review...I really messed this one up...notice the 3 sections that are the same??  Yeah, they are supposed to be staggered like the other 3 sections...Oops!  I was so flustered when I noticed it that I put the topper somewhere and now I cannot find it.  It should be an easy fix since I still have the fabric.  We'll see.  I will probably just keep it and use it-who will know (except you??) HA!
