Crochet couch pillow

Howdy!  i had another crochet adventure!

i made a pillow cover.

See, i have boys who sometimes are sick 

and this can be problematic for nearby pillows. Ew.

So...since throw pillows are a little pricey

(and i am forever cheap)

i decided to try and crochet a cover.

i have a few pillows that came with the couch

-but they are a cream color

(read-too light to be around growing boys

because they will not stay cream for very long)

i used catherines wheel stitch

(awesomely explained here)

and made it up as i went along.

i cannot say if i will end up making covers for the other pillows.

i mean, i dont hate it, but i'm just not too sure about it.

Crochet hat

So!  I saw this hat on several different blogs/forums

and everyone is trying to figure out how to make it

For a few reasons 

Anthropology no longer sells it...

and I guess it was around $50 when they did
and it's super cute!

Well, here is my try at it.
I have to say-I LOVE IT!

I am not a big floral-girly-girl.

But I have been wearing my new hat!
I have even made it in a few colors :)  
and already given some away as gifts!

I have made it in 2 baby sizes also!

I am working on a pattern and hoping to have it done soon.

A Sharp Crochet Hook

Well!  So you have seen that i make those hanging handtowels?

When i make them-it's a bit of a pain because

first i take a small hole punch and punch holes in the towel

guesstimating where i want a stitch.

And of course i mess a few up...but not anymore!

A hat for Alec

Alec "popped out" a little earlier than planned...and is still in the hospital.

*all accounts are that he is doing GREAT! and should be going home soon*

I found this pattern on etsy and could not resist.

I figured that just in case he was able to be home

he should have this hat :)

So sue me.  I had the best of intentions to post some pictures...but, well.

I have been busy sewing, sewing, crocheting, crocheting...little bit of house cleaning...some cutting to get ready to sew...

1)Hexagon runner.  I made it using this great tutorial.
2)Hexagon pieces that I will be making into a huge table runner.
3)Strips that will be made into a disappearing nine patch quilt for D.
4)A disappearing nine patch baby blanket for a gal at work. **Notice the brown patch in the middle?  Yeah, that's me and my great math skills.  I did not get enough fabric and pulled this idea out of my
head. (Ha!  Did you think something else??)  Anyway, very proud that I was able to make it work!!
5)Crochet Penquin (6 more to go for a penquin army for Lo...)
6)Crochet elephant (Pink one in the works)
7)And can you guess what these pieces make?  This. How stinking CUTE is he??

Hmmm...I think that is it. Isnt' that enough??
See, there is life after/during giveaways!  Next time though, I will make sure it's not a marathon post!

Updates

Yes, I have neglected to update the blog for a while...but I promise it's because I have been busy (some of it's crafty...) like a new scarf  for a great friend for her birthday, and some kitchen towels too ( see ).

I have also tried my hand at knitting and crocheting dishcloths.  And, after crocheting the scrubbies, I have sadly realized that I did them wrong.  They are fine and work great, but I did them the hard way (duh, that's how I do things).    Pictures & links to tuts to come soon of the dishcloths.  Really fun and easy!

I also made some checkbook covers...too cute!
